I caught up with Richard from the now closed down Metro Trend skate shop. His shop became an example of tough times in Michigan. We asked him a few questions.
LC: So Richard, what happened to Metro Trend Skateboard Shop?
R: It’s just tough times in Michigan, no money coming in, all the big three closing up, and most of the reps have not much love for the shops, they sell to anybody and every body. That’s about it.
LC: Where are people getting thier stuff at?
R: Online and I had four shop with in two miles of my shop.
LC: You guys have been there a long time?
R: I’ve own it for four years but it’s been there since ’89.
LC: Any advice to other shop owners?
R: Keep skateboarding!
