    I so used to seeing those types of covers that I hardly even notice them anymore. They just become part of the landscape. That pretty sad in and of itself because some of them are awful. My daughter is old enough to read, but oddly she never asked me about them. I guess they have just become part of her normal experience, too.

    Whether you are a woman or a man, please do not speak for all women. It ok to be focused on that and to focus on dealing with how you feel now and if your father should not pull through. Therapy worked wonders for me and my only regret is not going sooner than I did. If that is an option for you, I highly recommend it as soon as you can. Let yourself grieve but also remember the good times and just be gentle with yourself. If you can, and if you think it would help, try to spend some extra time with the rest of your family since you will all need support through this. I recommend looking into it sooner than later, sometimes just talking to someone who is trained to listen and understand can help. At 19, you probably don have a lot of friends who you can talk to. . was in my 30s but as a grad student I didn have friends who had lost a parent. Also, the advice above is great. Take time, talk to your professors, and spend time with your father and your family. After about 3 4 days of mourning we just invited him out, played games, went the pub, acted as if nothing at all was different than usual. Carried on doing stupid shit (minus mom jokes which were rife at 18, and he quickly returned to normal (attitude wise) and not asking us to come to his house to hang out any more but going back to the previous routines. 2 weeks ago he thanked us for being there for him and keeping him happy instead of trying to console him.

    Although its a pretty cheap “we sorry” kind of publicity stunt, I don think you can dismiss it as a joke. They have a point, its a touchy subject. And the fact that they aligned this movement with domestic violence and sexual assault organizations at the local, state and national levels means that even if they doing it for bullshit reasons, there can still be a positive outcome.
